Mind's Better Lives Programme offers training courses, employment support, work opportunities and workshops for adults experiencing mental health problems.
Mind training and employment programmes are recovery focused and combine educational, creative and wellbeing activities to achieve the best outcomes for trainees and adult learners.
Taught by experienced tutors, peer mentors and volunteers, Mind courses are highly valued by our graduate trainees and adult learners. Individual training is supported through individual learning support.
To support people with experience of mental health problems to gain the skills and experience they need to gain entry to employment and further study.
Mind courses do not require any previous knowledge of the subject area. The course does require that applicants have the ability to follow simple written instructions to support teaching demonstrations, hand-outs, assessments and health and safety information.
Mind courses are open to adult learners who have experience of mental health problems and who need recovery focused training and employment support to re/start their employment or further study.
Depending on the course, there are a number of qualifications, ranging from Awards to Certificates and Diplomas. Each course has details of the course curriculum and qualification.
The training and workshops are delivered through a combination of individual teaching and learning in small groups.
All materials and equipment will be supplied, including protective clothing where required.
You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course. One to one review meetings are held to assess progress and wellbeing, address any support needs and to prepare for skills assessments.
Adult learners can feedback in a number of ways in one to one meetings and monthly project forum meetings.
Adult learners are asked to complete an evaluation form at the end of the course. These are monitored and help us improve our courses.
Graduates of Mind's accredited training courses can continue further study at a number of colleges. Completion of certain courses also provides sufficient knowledge to secure entry level employment.
Graduates of Mind's training courses can apply for paid or volunteer peer support positions within the service. Eligibility criteria apply.
