Mental Health First Aid Training

Become a Mental Health First Aider.

Mental Health First Aid is an accredited course which aims to equip people with skills and knowledge to:

  • Preserve life where a person may be a danger to themselves or others
  • Provide help to prevent a mental health problem becoming more serious
  • Raise awareness of mental health issues in the community
  • Promote the recovery of good mental health 
  • Provide comfort to a person experiencing a mental health problem
  • Reduce stigma and discrimination

Mental Health First Aid is the help provided to a person developing a mental health problem or in a mental health crisis, until appropriate treatment is received or until the crisis is resolved. Mental Health First AId is different to other mental health training courses:

  • It offers a simple way to help others that anyone can use
  • It is standardised
  • It is accredited
  • It has been evaluated
  • It is used in many countries
